Weekend of Horrors Returns to Chicago

Romero headlines Chicago WOH!Hey Midwestern horror fans, hope you’re keeping the weekend of March 6-8th open! Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors is coming to the Wyndham Chicago O’Hare Hotel, located at 6810 North Mannheim Road, in Rosemont, Illinois.

Headlining the weekend’s festivities is legendary director George A. Romero who will be on hand to meet fans and show off some footage from his upcoming zombie film. Other directors joining Romero that weekend are Tobe Hooper (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Poltergeist), Toby Wilkins (Splinter, The Grudge 3), R.W. Goodwin (the upcoming new sci-fi comedy Alien Trespass), Gary Sherman (Raw Meat), Herschell Gordon Lewis (Blood Feast, Two Thousand Maniacs!), and Troma Films President Lloyd Kaufman (Poultrygeist, Toxic Avenger films).

Fango is also giving horror enthusiasts the opportunity to be a part of two special horror events:

  • Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies reunion with director Tobe Hooper; Bill Moseley (“Chop-Top”); Marilyn Burns (“Sally”); Caroline Williams (“Stretch”); Bill Johnson (“Leatherface”); John Dugan (“Grandpa”); and Tom Savini, makeup FX legend
  • Masters of Italian Horror Panel with Ruggero Deodato (Cannibal Holocaust), Lamberto Bava (Demons) and FX artist/director Sergio Stivaletti (Mother of Tears)
  • The magazine is also bringing in other horror fan favorites including Doug Bradley (Hellraiser‘s Pinhead), Tom Towles (House of 1000 Corpses, Grindhouse), and Sheila Larken who played Margaret Scully on “The X-Files”.

    On Friday evening at 9:00 PM, Fangoria is hosting the “Shock-N-Roll Spooktacular”, featuring music maniacs Mushroomhead, Fashion Bomb and DK Brianne.

    The Chicago convention will host a costume contest and offer photo opportunities, autographs and a giant dealers’ marketplace. Fango will also be hosting an exclusive horror movie festival and watch advance previews of such films as The Grudge 3, Vinyan, Splinter, Plague Town, Vindication, and many more.

    General admission tickets are available in advance for $20 or at the door for $20 on Friday and $25 for Saturday or Sunday. Advance tickets are available through Fango Con.

    The Chicago stop is just the first event planned for Fangoria Magazine’s 30th Anniversary 2009 Tour. Other cities on the tour include Los Angeles April 17-19 at the Los Angeles Convention Center and New York City, June 5-7 at the Javits Center.
