The Gratitude Collaborative Launching; Shows Off Horror Art for Charity!

Dana Ashmore and Laura Bousman just dropped us a line regarding their new company, Gratitude Collaborative, which cultivates artistic expression while raising money for charity. Their launch will kick off with an art show featuring original pieces from 50+ international artists. The theme is “Gratitude,” and all of the artists have created works inspired by pop/cult media.
One of the featured artists is Drew Struzan, who is responsible for all of the Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Harry Potter movie posters. His piece is inspired by zombies (as well as Lolita) and is featured on the e-postcard below. Also on display will be artwork inspired by the old Frankenstein films, The Thing, Alien, Hellboy, and many more.

Gratitude Collaborative, in conjunction with Hero Gallery Complex, is pleased to announce a pop-up art show entitled POP 2 ACTION, a collection of original artwork by 50+ international artists, inspired by pop culture and mass media influences.
A limited number of prints and merchandise will be sold with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Grateful Arts, a charity that raises money to feed the hungry, create sustainable food sources, and advocate for the arts. Participating artists include Drew Struzan, best known for his collaborations with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas on movie posters for the STAR WARS and INDIANA JONES franchises. Struzan will be in attendance on opening night, and the evening’s giveaways include a signed print by the artist.
Gratitude Collaborative is a new company whose mission is to generate art that serves a purpose. Founded earlier this year by Dana Renée Ashmore, the organization nurtures a collective of artists who create limited edition pieces to support those in need. Gratitude Collaborative sells locally produced artwork, bags, accessories, and hand- printed cards that have a donation built into their cost that serves Grateful Arts, who returns the funds to the public.
Ashmore, a film and television producer by trade, created Gratitude Collaborative in order to satisfy her imagination while also ensuring that her charitable donations were benefitting her community. “I love what I do,” says Ashmore, referring to her day job, “but the film industry is so transient. Gratitude Collaborative is my way of connecting to art directly.”
“I also have a lot to be grateful for,” she continues, “and that’s why I want to give back. I want to support the community who has supported me.”
Ashmore has recently partnered with Laura Bousman, a fellow producer, who will handle administration and operations. Together, the two are currently developing relationships with new artists as well as seeking out new charitable opportunities. Ashmore and Bousman hope to build a brick and mortar home for Gratitude Collaborative by next year.
In the meantime, the majority of time spent is dedicated to POP 2 ACTION. “We’re so lucky to be working with Hero Complex Gallery,” says Ashmore. “They are the perfect home for our pop, cult, geek aesthetic!”
The exhibit opens on Friday, November 7th, and the public is invited to attend a reception from 7:00 pm-10:00 pm. Admission is free, and complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
The show runs Saturday and Sunday, November 8th and 9th, from 11:00 am-6:00 pm.
