Daughters of Darkness (1971)

It really seems like only yesterday that Blue Underground released the first DVD of Daughters of Darkness, but I guess even they’re not above the occasional double dip. Fans of the sexy horror classic likely won’t mind, however, since this disc is more stacked than the titular (pun intended) vampire ladies. This time out we get two commentaries, a ton of interviews about the locations in which the beautiful film was created, an interview with the film’s star, Andrea Rau, theatrical and radio spots and a lot more! If you were to come into possession of a terrible power, but you got to choose what it would be, what would you pick? The ability to incite explosive diahareha with a single word? How about the skill to make people melt? It’d be a tough call for me, as both would be messy, but I’d got with number 2 myself. Such are the skills of a group of Satanists in the rural landscapes of America. Unfortunately one of their victim’s son has vowed revenge. Don’t Open Your Eyes (2006)

A homicide detective and his new love Fiona are haunted by a group of venomous ghosts, so he enlists the help of the force’s supernatural expert to try and make it stop. Pretty soon a full-blown war has started between the living and the dead, and the two cops have to fight for their lives to stop the world from crumbling. Buy it here!
Future Kill (1985)

In a strange cyberpunk future, a group of protestors take their marching to the next level by pretending to be mutants affected by toxic radiation. One of them actually is mutated, however, and leads his fellow mutants in a chase through the inner city to catch a group of frat boys who are framed for the murder of a mutant leader. Subversive has some great stuff on this disc, so make sure you don’t pass it by! Buy it here!
Gory Gory Hallelujah (2003)

How can you really go wrong with a title like that? No one’s going to go into a film called Gory Gory Hallelujah expecting high art, so as long as you at least deliver on the gore, you’re golden. Four actors trying out for the role of Jesus are rejected, so they hit the road on their motorcycle and run into all sorts of trouble when they end up in a town that don’t take kindly to blasphemers. Eventually this heap of trouble takes a more sinister turn and the chances of the apocalypse happening become pretty damn high. Fucking actors. Buy it here!
Heart Stopper (2006)

There must be a lot of either abandoned or forgiving hospitals around the country, because there seem to be more and more horror films set inside of ‘em these days. Heart Stopper is just such a film, telling the story of some young people (sigh) stuck in a disused institution during a sever storm, where a maniac is stalking the halls and taking out his victims one-by-one. The Hitchhiker: Volume 3 (1983)

Another 10 tales of the darkest sides of the human spirit from the long-running HBO series, which featured a hitchhiker character introducing each new tale of woe. This set is not chronological in anyway, as it features only some of the best episodes in the series 7-year run, which is a tad annoying for fans who might want to just seem them in seasonal block like Warners is doing with Tales From the Crypt. I guess it’s better than nothing, though! Buy it here!
I Pass For Human (2004)

Wow, kids are dumb. Wanting to ease the pain of losing her lover to an overdose of heroin, Jane decides to try the drug herself for the first time. As her addiction grows, she soon learns that she’s being haunted by the ghosts of dead addicts, her boyfriend included. She meets Rick, another junkie being tormented by the restless dead, and soon the two are trying to figure out just what the hell is going on. But it’s never as simple as it seems when you’re dealing with the dead. Buy it here!
King Dinosaur/The Jungle (1955/1952)

A double feature of classic 50’s monster flicks; that’s what Halloween is truly all about! In King Dinosaur, two scientist couples are sent to explore a newly discovered planet where, in between romantic interludes, they’re terrorized by an iguana masquerading as a Tyrannosarus Rex (?!). The Jungle, on the other hand, a hunter and an Indian princess seek the cause of death for a multitude of local men, seemingly trampled to death, and discover a whole tribe of Wooly Mammoths still in existence! Macumba Sexual (1981)

And how about a little Franco action for you Halloween celebration? Maybe something to get that ghoul you’ve been chatting up all night in the mood? Try this line: “Hey baby, want to check out my latest Jess Franco DVD?” If she’s down, you just slip this in (the DVD player) and wait for the action to begin! The story is about the Goddess of Unspeakable Lust using her powers to conquer yuppies and take over the world, so I suggest you imply that you possess similar powers, and she will be like butter. Mansion of the Living Dead (1985)

All right, so by now you’ve either gotten what you wanted and she’s gone, or our little planned failed and your left along. Doubtfully it was our fault. Anyway, now that you’re alone you’ve still got some Franco-y goodness to wallow in, and it’s a bonus that this film includes masturbation, lesbian sex, and horrors unimaginable. Gotta love the man for knowing what a lonely, horny horror fan wants to see! Buy it here!
Schramm (1994)

Lothar Schramm seems like such a nice guy to the public at large, but looks can be deceiving. A taxi driver who lives alone, any stranger who comes to his door is either killed outright or, if they’re female, drugged, tortured, photographed and … a lot more. I had no idea Barrel Entertainent were releasing a new and fully stacked version of this classic of sick cinema until is showed up in my mailbox (review soon, I promise), but stacked this sucker is! A must see for anyone who thinks they’ve seen it all! Buy it here!
Tales From the Crypt: The Complete 5th Season

Man I love these sets, though they’re coming out a bit too fast for me to be able to snatch ‘em up right away, it’s still nice to know they’re out there. This season features episodes like Russell (Resident Evil: Extinction) Mulcahy’s “People Who Live in Brass Hearses” and Kevin Hook’s “Two For the Show”. Though the list of directors this year was even less impressive than the previous season, there were still some great episodes coming out of the show. Buy it here!
The Vampire/The Vampire’s Coffin (1957/1958)

More Spanish horror for you guys, this time in the form of two classic vampire movies that are still considered two of the best. The Vampire is about a girl who learns that her family is under the control of an evil count and she, along with a mysterious doctor, do their best to stop his killing. The Vampire’s Coffin brings the bloodsucker back with a vengeance, this time bringing with him some zombie servants. Warriors of Terra (2006)

A group of animal rights activists become convinced that a local lab is performing hideous experiments on cute & fuzzies, so they enlist the help of one of the doctor’s daughters to do a raid. She goes along willingly, but when they get in they find no animals to save; instead, they release a girl who was dying from cancer but whose treatment has turned her into a monster that feeds on liquefied organs.
