Beyond the Dunwich Horror!Personally I can’t say if Beyond the Dunwich Horror is going to be a worthwhile Lovecraft adaptation, but the makers sure did get one thing right so far; they commissioned Shock Festival (pre-order it here) author/artist/screenwriter Stephen Romano to make their poster!

Fangoria got an update from the film’s creator, Richard Griffin, today, who confirmed that the film uses Lovecraft’s “Dunwich Horror” as a jumping-off point, but sets the tale in the modern-day where the ancestors of the Whatley family are out to resurrect the old evils.

“The movie has a strong Dario Argento/Mario Bava/Lucio Fulci element that makes it a welcome change from all the PG-13 horror remakes out there.” Griffin told the mag, ”I believe the genre audience is screaming for something different—and that Beyond the Dunwich Horror delivers in spades. But it’s definitely an ‘adults only’ film, so no one under 17 will be admitted to the screenings!”

What screenings, you ask? Beyond the Dunwich Horror will premiere in Lovecraft’s hometown of Providence, RI on Friday, May 23rd at 7pm and 9pm. Check out the film’s MySpace page for more information and keep it here for a look at more goodies soon!
