Vivendi To Spread Boll’s Seed

Mmmmmmmmm, Boll Seed!Did I write this story just so I could use that cheeky headline? Better believe it. But I also figured some of you might actually be interested in an update on the status of Uwe Boll’s blood-drenched slasher flick Seed.

Fangoria reported this past week that Vivendi Entertainment will be releasing Uwe Boll’s gruesome serial killer flick Seed straight to DVD sometime this September. For those in need of a reminder:

Sam Seed, an insane mass murderer, is scheduled for execution at the hands of Warden Wright. Before the executioner throws the switch, Wright steps in front of Seed, ‘Do you have any last words?’ Seed, ‘I’ll see you again.’ After three attempts to electrocute, complete with boiling blood that steeps from his eyes, he’s still alive. The executioner, Wright, and the doctor collectively agree that the breathing Seed be pronounced dead. He is bound and buried alive. After biting and clawing his way to the surface, Seed, the blood-soaked, enraged madman, is now bent on vengeance.

Dread Central’s very own Andrew Kasch got a chance to see an early screening of the Michael Pare-starring splatterfest at the 2006 American Film Market and wrote the following:

Watching Seed you get the feeling that Uwe Boll is pissed at everyone and everything. With images of torture, mutilation, and real-life animal snuff, there’s an overwhelming sense that he’s trying to channel his rage into some sort of nihilistic exploitation piece. Unfortunately his demons have taken the form of a laughable psycho who looks and acts like a dumbass WWE reject. While this is yet another in the good doctor’s long line of failures, Boll at least delivers something resembling a tone and includes several kills that are downright jaw-dropping.

Expect more Seed (official site) DVD details in the weeks and months to come once Vivendi makes all the information available.

The unstoppa-boll Doctor isn’t done with jailhouse horror either. He’s already completed work on another prison-based thriller currently known as Jail (Boll states it will not be the final title) that he shot in six days and was almost completely improvised without a script. Jail, which stars Edward Furlong, is based upon a disturbing 2006 German prison incident in which two seemingly mild-mannered men in jail for minor offenses tortured and raped with a broomstick another inmate until that guy hung himself (or was hung by them); the reasons and motivations for why they did so remain unclear.

Head over to the Jail page at the website Movieset to watch a few short interviews with Boll about the film. Boll hopes that this new film will leave audiences speechless.

Wouldn’t be the first time he’s done that.
