Dawson’s Task Force

O.C.T. comic comes to big screen (click to see it bigger!)Is there anything Rosario Dawson can’t do? She completely and utterly won my heart in this summer’s Clerks II, a sequel that had no right being as good as it is, and now I’m beginning to understand Sean Clark’s obsession with the girl. Essentially we have a smokin’ hot movie geek who leans toward our genre, and we welcome her with open arms.

Back in July the comic series she co-created, O.C.T.: Occult Crimes Taskforce, first launched under Image Comics, and today it was announced via Variety that Dimension has nabbed the movie rights to the comic with Dawson set to star. Makes sense as the protagonist of the comic is an animated version of her.

O.C.T. takes place in modern times and finds a Gotham detective who, after happening upon a particularly bizarre crime scene, is recruited into the titular group and uses magic to fight the forces of darkness.

Obviously there is some trepidation any time Dimension is involved with something horror related, but hopefully Dawson’s recent track record with them will assure some sort of swiftness in seeing this made. She will next be seen in the Tarantino/Rodriguez masterpiece-in-the-works, Grind House, which can’t come soon enough.
