Zac Efron Leads Blumhouse & Stephen King’s FIRESTARTER Remake

Blumhouse new take on Stephen King‘s Firestarter has snagged Zac Efron as Andy McGee, the father of the titular pyro. David Keith played the role in the original film.

Now maybe I’d be negative about this news, but did you see Efron as Ted Bundy in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile? Yeah, I’m up for this casting.

This update comes to us via Collider.

Starring Drew Barrymore, Heather Locklear, Martin Sheen, George C. Scott, Art Carney, and Louise Fletcher, the original film followed Andy McGee (David Keith) and Vicky (Heather Locklear), who participated in secret experiments as youths, allowing themselves to be subjected to mysterious medical tests. Years later, the couple’s daughter, Charlie (Drew Barrymore), begins to exhibit the ability to set fires solely with her mind. This volatile talent makes the youngster extremely dangerous and soon she becomes a target for the enigmatic agency known as “The Shop.”

Keith Thomas directs this remake from a script by Scott Teems (Halloween Kills). Jason Blum and Akiva Goldsman produce with Martha De Laurentiis executive producing with Teems. Are you excited?
