THE LALAURIE MANSION Set to Be Six Film Series

The Conjuring screenwriters Chad and Carey Hayes are working on a film based on one of the most notorious ‘haunted houses’ in the world, The LaLaurie Mansion in New Orleans. And today they revealed the film will kick off a six-film franchise.

Chad says: “We have a film that’s sort of going to be another franchise if we’re fortunate enough to draw in the audience. It’s called ‘The LaLaurie Mansion: Chapter Six,’ and it surrounds the most haunted house in all of New Orleans.

He adds: “It’s based on another true story. [We’ve] done a lot of research. We’re planning on doing six films surrounding it, but the movie you’re going to see first is the last one. It’s contemporary, and then we’re going earlier in time, earlier in time, earlier in time to when different events happen there. And that’s been really cool.”

The house was made infamous by Madame Lalaurie who tortured and murdered slaves there in the early 1800s. She fled the city following a fire and was never arrested. The Hayes brothers have visited the property and may write the first draft of the screenplay inside. Either way, the production intends to shoot on-site.
