Don’t Worry About SCREAM 5, Neve Campbell ‘Voracious Protector’ of Wes Craven

Earlier today we passed along word that Scream and Thirteen Ghosts star Matthew Lillard would love to join Neve Campbell in Radio Silence’s upcoming Scream 5.

And now he lets us know that we shouldn’t be too worried about the upcoming sequel as he says Campbell is a “voracious protector of Wes like nobody else.”

He tells TooFab: “I guarantee you Neve is a voracious protector of Wes like nobody else. She won’t do it unless there’s a really clear idea that she’s excited about.”

Wes Craven re-invented and revitalized the slasher-horror genre with the modern horror classic, which manages to be funny, clever, and scary, as a fright-masked knife maniac stalks high-school students in middle-class suburbia. Craven is happy to provide both tension and self-parody as the body count mounts.

The film sports a 79% on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: Horror icon Wes Craven’s subversive deconstruction of the genre is sly, witty, and surprisingly effective as a slasher film itself, even if it’s a little too cheeky for some.

Scream is directed by Wes Craven from a screenplay by Kevin Williamson. Cathy Konrad and Cary Woods produced and it starred Neve Campbell, David Arquette, Courteney Cox, Matthew Lillard, Rose McGowan, Skeet Ulrich, and Drew Barrymore.
