Netflix Cancels V-WARS After A Single Season

Netflix’s TV series adaptation of Jonathan Maberry’s V-Wars starring Ian Somerhalder was unleashed late last year. And today, THR reports Netflix has canceled the series after one season.

Bummer.

Based on the comic by Maberry, it tells the story of Dr. Luther Swann, who becomes swept up in a global disaster when a mysterious disease transforms his best friend, Michael Fayne, into a murderous predator who feeds on other humans. As the disease spreads and more people are transformed, society fractures into opposing camps pitting normal people against the growing number of these “vampires.” Swann races against time to understand what’s happening, while Fayne rises to become the powerful underground leader of the vampires.

V-Wars the series is created by William Laurin and Glenn Davis. Ian Somerhalder (The Vampire Diaries) serves as one of the show’s executive producers alongside Brad Turner, Eric Birnberg, Thomas Walden, David Ozer, Ted Adams, and James Gibb.

The episodes were directed by Brad Turner, TJ Scott, Kaare Andrews, Marita Grabiak, Bobby Roth, and Ian Somerhalder. The series stars Ian Somerhalder (The Vampire Diaries) Adrian Holmes (Arrow) as Michael Fayne, Peter Outerbridge (The Umbrella Academy) as Calix Niklos, Laura Vandervoort (Rabid, Smallville) as Mila Dubov, Kyle Breitkopf (The Whispers) as Dez, Jacky Lai (Beyond) as Kaylee Vo, and Kimberly-Sue Murray (Shadowhunters) as Danika.

Production companies involved include High Park Entertainment and IDW Entertainment. The first season consisting of ten episodes is now streaming over on Netflix.
