Housebound Horror Fans Can Virtually Explore the Most Terrifying & Haunting Place on Earth: Chernobyl

You guys loved our article about The Winchester Mystery House offering virtual tours to housebound horror fans during the Coronavirus crisis. We figured we’d share other virtual tours in an effort to ease the stress of being stuck at home and, earlier this week, we showed you how to explorer one of the creepiest locations on Earth with a click of your mouse: The Catacombs of Paris! Find links to both below.

Today, we thought we’d take you to what is perhaps the most terrifying and haunting places on the planet: Chernobyl, the site of the world’s worst nuclear disaster over 30 years ago.

Prypiat is a ghost city in northern Ukraine, near the Ukraine–Belarus border. Named after the nearby Pripyat River, the city was founded on February 4, 1970, as the ninth nuclear city (a type of closed city) in the Soviet Union, to serve the nearby Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. It was officially proclaimed a city in 1979 and had grown to a population of 49,360 by the time it was evacuated on the afternoon of April 27, 1986, the day after the Chernobyl disaster. (Source)

Today, Prypiat remains abandoned–and creepy AF! Explore what remains in VR 360 in the videos below (no gear required).
