Garcia Helms a Slaughter

Been a while since we did any news regarding the Slamdance-winning screenplay Slaughter (“Slamdance Winner Rolls” – March 2007), but a lot has happened since.

Today it was announced via The Hollywood Reporter that Return to House on Haunted Hill and 30 Days of Night: Blood Trails helmer Victor Garcia would be taking the directorial reigns on Slaughter, with the ever-so-lovely Dominique Swain (pictured) in the lead.

Swain stars as a young starlet who heads out to the desert to film the titular movie, only to discover (too late!) that her and her costars are actually set to be participants in a snuff film. Hilarity ensues.

The script. from the pens of Nathan Brookes and Bobby Lee Darby, is being produced by Angel Baby and Slamdance. Cameras roll this month in LA on Slaughter, the first of three features the two companies want to produce based on submitted scripts in the Slamdance screenplay contest. Check out more info on their latest competition at the official Slamdance site and keep it here for more Slaughter-ific updates!
