Marvel’s New WEREWOLF BY NIGHT Comic Features A Variant Cover Drawn By AFRO SAMURAI Creator Takashi Okazaki

A few days ago, we informed our readers that Taboo from the Black Eyed Peas was working on a new Werewolf by Night comic for Marvel, and now we can report that the first issue of the four-part miniseries is set to arrive in April. The first issue will also feature a variant cover drawn by Afro Samurai creator Takashi Okazaki, which you can view in the gallery below, alongside the regular cover by Mike McKone. We love the way Okazaki blended his traditional anime style of artwork with a more western comic book approach.

Simply titled Werewolf by Night, the series is being written by Taboo alongside Benjamin Jackendoff. Although it takes place in the regular Marvel Universe, it will focus on a new werewolf character named Jake, who struggles to protect his people while being hunted by the hero known as Red Wolf. Native American mythology will play a large role in the series, with Taboo’s Native American heritage being a key influence. It also remains to be seen if Jack Russell, the character usually known as Werewolf by Night in the Marvel Universe, will make an appearance.

All four issues of Werewolf by Night will be drawn by Scott Eaton, and from what we know so far, it sounds like this miniseries will be a fresh and interesting new take on one of Marvel’s most famous monsters. If you’re looking forward to this comic as much as we are, you can head over to ComiXology to pre-order the first issue ahead of its release in April.
