Greetings from Alyse Wax: Your Other New Co-Editor in Chief

My name is Alyse Wax. I’m a horror nerd; my television is always on; I’m obsessed with The X-Files; and I am your new co-editor in chief!

I’m the new kid around Dread Central, but I have been involved in horror journalism for over a decade. My first experience with the genre was at age ten, when I was flipping through the channels one Saturday morning, looking for cartoons. Instead, I found a man with throbbing, bubbling, dripping pustules on his face, screaming in agony. I was entranced. That TV show turned out to be Friday the 13th: The Series, a show which became an obsession. After that, it was all Nightmare on Elm Street and Fangoria magazine; Cannibal Holocaust and fake blood packets. When I got my first job writing about horror, the first thing I did was call my mother and tell her that a childhood filled with chainsaws and death was finally paying off.

I got started in horror at the dearly departed FEARnet.com, a place where I rose to Associate Editor. Since then, I have written for Fangoria.com, Bloody Disgusting, Indie Wire, Daily Dead, Mashable, and Blumhouse.com. I am currently a regular contributor to SYFY Wire, Collider, and Coming Soon. As an author, I wrote Curious Goods: Behind the Scenes of Friday the 13th: The Series, the first and only book on the cult 1980s TV show. I just released The World of IT with Abrams Books. The Amazon bestseller is the official behind-the-scenes art book for IT and IT: Chapter Two.

One of my responsibilities around Dread will be to mold the editorial voice, and to make sure that our site stands out. We want to hear from you! What do you want to see on Dread Central? Is there anything that we aren’t covering that you want to see? Drop us a comment, and let us know!

I am excited to be here, and excited to ride with you down this river of blood.
