Piranha Writer Spills

Piranha remake writere talks!Personally I’ve never had a problem with the remake of Piranha that was announced a while back (“Aja Bites Into Piranha” – March 2007), hell I’d love to see it remade every decade or so because it’s such a cornball idea it could easily be adaptable across generations, but Clint over at Moviehole had to be convinced that one was really necessary.

Which lead him to talk to Good Luck Chuck screenwriter Josh Stolberg who, along with Peter Goldfinger, has penned the remake that Alexandre (Haute Tension) Aja is attached to. ”I thought our take on the material was fun and different.” Stolberg explained as to why he and Goldfinger tackled it, ”I know there are a lot of people out there who hate remakes (especially of classics, which the original Piranha was). But I thought, hell, if it’s going to happen anyway, why not throw our hat into the ring and see if we can’t make it better than expected.”

Hopefully the combination of a couple of comedy writers tackling a horror script and a very serious director working on something with some humor infused will give the new Piranha more than enough reason to stand tall alongside the original. Of course, there’s always stuido interference to worry about, but its too early for all that.
