Trailer: SCREAM Season 3 Moving to VH1 with Original Ghostface Mask & Actor

The first two seasons of Scream (based on the seminal franchise created by Wes Craven in the 1990s) were moderate successes on MTV. Still, a third season has been in various stages of production and reinvention for almost three years. Today brings news, however, that Scream Season 3 is happening.

The series will move from MTV to VH1. Not only that, the show’s villain will don the original Ghostface mask from Craven’s movies. THR broke the news:

For the first time on TV, the original Ghostface mask will appear in Scream, with voice actor Roger Jackson also returning to the franchise. The six-episode season of Scream: Resurrection will debut Monday, July 8, and will run for two hours per night, starting at 9 p.m., through Wednesday, July 10.

Season three centers on Deion Elliot (RJ Cyler), a local star football running back, whose tragic past comes back to haunt him and threaten his hard-earned plans for the future — and the lives of his unlikely group of friends. The cast also includes Mary J. Blige, Keke Palmer, Tyler Posey, Tyga, Giorgia Whigham, Jessica Sula, C.J. Wallace, and Giullian Yao Gioiello. The first-look trailer for season three also reveals that Paris Jackson will guest star.
