As has become its weekly custom, The CW has released “producer previews” for tonight’s episodes of “The Vampire Diaries” (#3.11, “Our Town”) and “The Secret Circle (#1.11, “Fire/Ice”). The “TVD” preview is hosted by executive producer Julie Plec and co-executive producer Caroline Dries while the “TSC” preview finds executive producer Andrew Miller outlining some of his characters’ desires.

The Vampire Diaries“The Vampire Diaries” Episode 3.11 “Our Town” (1/12/12 Air Date; 8:00-9:00 PM):
BIRTHDAYS AND GOOD-BYES — Although Caroline (Candice Accola) is in no mood to celebrate her 18th birthday, Elena (Nina Dobrev), Bonnie (Kat Graham), and Matt (Zach Roerig) surprise her with a small party in an unusual location.

Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) disagree on the best way to handle Klaus (Joseph Morgan), and a reckless Stefan decides to test his theory by taking things to dangerous extremes.

Bonnie is concerned when Elena tells her about Jeremy’s (Steven R. McQueen) new plans.

At a Founder’s meeting, Alaric once again runs into Dr. Fell (guest star Torrey DeVitto), who is in the middle of an argument with her ex-boyfriend, the medical examiner (guest star David Colin Smith).

Tyler (Michael Trevino) refuses to go along with Klaus’ latest demand and is surprised when Klaus seems to accept his decision.

Wendey Stanzler directed the episode written by Rebecca Sonnenshine.

The Secret Circle“The Secret Circle” Episode 1.11 “Fire/Ice” (1/12/12 Air Date; 9:00-10:00 PM):
FAYE’S QUEST FOR POWER THREATENS THE CIRCLE — Cassie (Britt Robertson) asks Adam (Thomas Dekker) for help when she wants to look into her father’s past, and their search leads them to an eerily familiar place. It also rekindles an old flame when Adam, thrilled to be spending time with Cassie again, asks her to the Fire and Ice dance. But because of her friendship with Diana (Shelley Hennig), Cassie is forced to give a surprising response.

In an effort to be a better father, Ethan (Adam Harrington) offers to chaperone the dance, much to Adam’s dismay.

Faye (Phoebe Tonkin) asks Lee (guest star Grey Damon; “Friday Night Lights”, “True Blood”)) to help her with a spell that would grant her individual magic. Unfortunately, the spell has some terrifying side effects that nearly destroy the Circle.

Jessica Parker Kennedy also stars. Joshua Butler directed the episode written by Holly Henderson and Don Whitehead.
