The Year of the King: CASTLE ROCK Takes Home WGA Award

Yesterday’s Writers Guild of America Awards sought to honor the scribes of today’s best films and TV shows, and in an omen that bodes well for Stephen King fans, Castle Rock took home the trophy for Best Original Longform Series.
Let the year of Stephen King commence, and we a lot to look forward to. We’re getting Pet Sematary in April, IT: Chapter Two in September, and The Shining sequel Doctor Sleep in November. All of this on top of a second season of Castle Rock on Hulu. We truly are living in a Stephen King Renaissance.

Synopsis:
The Stephen King multiverse is the
setting for this psychological horror series that takes place in Castle Rock,
Maine, which is a location familiar to fans of King’s work. “Castle
Rock” explores themes and worlds that unite King’s canon, including the
infamous Shawshank Prison. An anonymous phone call lures death-row attorney
Henry Deaver back to Castle Rock. He is unsettled by his hometown, but he
returns to help a sinister, mostly mute man being kept in a cage underneath
Shawshank. Sissy Spacek and Bill Skarsgård, who starred in feature adaptations
of King’s “Carrie” and “It,” respectively, are among the
show’s stars.
