20th Anniversary DEEP RISING 4K Blu-Ray Rising from the Depths this August

The moment I read a few weeks back that Kino Lorber Studio Classics had made a deal acquiring the rights to a slew of movies from the Hollywood Pictures/Touchstone Films library I fully expected DEEP RISING to be one of those titles. Turns out I was more right than even I anticipated.
Previously available on blu-ray only as a double feature with 1994’s The Puppet Masters on one of those cheap budget releases from Mill Creek, Deep Rising will be getting the royal treatment on blu-ray and DVD with a remastered, fully loaded, 20th anniversary special edition courtesy of the folks at Kino Lorber, who really have been quietly stepping up their game of late.
The gory 1998 creature feature from writer-director Stephen Sommers (The Mummy, The Mummy Returns was a box office flop in its day but has since become a cult favorite. Treat Williams, Famke Janssen, Anthony Heald, Kevin J. O’Connor, Wes Studi, Jason Flemyng, Cliff Curtis, Clifton Powell and Djimon Hounsou star in this horror comedy about heavily armed ocean thieves planning to pillage a luxury ocean liner in the South China Sea only to get aboard and find out it has already been ransacked by slithering, man-eating monsters from deepest, darkest depths.
The Mill Creek release may have been barebones but Kino Lorber’s will prove quite meaty for fans. Here’s the complete list of extras to go along with 4K restoration of the original camera negative:

Kino Lorber’s 4K 20th Anniversary Special Edition of Deep Rising surfaces on August 21st.
Don’t be shocked if Kino Lorber gives The Puppet Masters a special edition release next year for its 25th anniversary.
