James Gunn Isn’t Working on THE TOXIC AVENGER 5 After All…

It was just last week that we shared the news that Slither writer-director James Gunn was joining forces with Lloyd Kaufman on the upcoming Toxic Avenger 5. But today it seems that this bit of info is NOT true… Wa, wa.
Kaufman himself took to Instagram to clarify the news writing: “There is a big error on line! As much as Toxie and I love him and would LOVE to have James Gunn work on Toxie 5, this is NOT true! Unless James is planning to surprise Uncle Lloydie this is fake news!”
Boy, that’s a lot of exclamation points.
The original Gunn article broke via SFX magazine where Kaufman was reported as saying, “I have worked with James Gunn and the script we have for The Toxic Avenger 5 is the finest I have read.” You can see a screencap of the article below.
Guess we can just calk this one up to a misquote and, sadly, move on to just looking forward to the film regardless of Gunn’s involvement or not.
