20 Million Miles to Earth (1957)

Finally this stop-motion monster classic is getting the big, sexy treatment it so rightly deserves rather than being stuck in a box set with other Harryhausen films. Not that that is a bad thing, don’t get me wrong, but it’s really a damn fine film that needs more fan recognition. It is about a space vessel returning to Earth in possession of a creature called the Ymir, which grows 20 feet tall and fucks up all of Rome before it comes head-to-head with military force. Bloodlines (2007)

Bloodlines is a story that takes place in the stick of Kentucky, focusing on an inbred family of sickos who re-focus their energies into cleaning up their bloodline. They capture unsuspecting young women and make them fight in a gladiator-type battle to the finish, but everything changes when they pick up the wrong girl, a huntress in her own right, whose brothers track her down and all hell breaks loose. The Cradle (2007)

A couple moves to a small, isolated town with their new son, Sam. As soon as they arrive, the mother and Sam become ill, and pretty soon the husband is suffering from horrifying visions of torture and death. Creature (1998)

Wow, Craig T. Nelson sure was manly ten years ago, eh? Who knew? And seriously, why can’t they just get the whole land-walking shark thing right? This TV movie, based on the book by Jaws writer Peter Benchley, is about a marine biologist up against an amphibious shark-like creature terrorizing a secret military base and the people who live on it. Dead Clowns (2007)

All right, get this one: A small town is about to suffer from a serious case of dead clown beatdown as a hurricane approaches them. Fifty years before, you see, a circus train plunged into the icy river when a bridge collapsed, and the clown car was never recovered. Right? Dream Slashers (2007)

Now this one is just vague as hell, at least what I could find for it was, and since I found it on the site of the company putting it out, I guess I won’t hope for anything clearer. Apparently it’s about sirens that lead people to their deaths, but they do so through dreams. Or something like that. Which really wouldn’t be such a bad way to go if they all look as good as the girl on the cover, right? Right! Buy it here!
Mutant Monsters Triple Feature

Just a random, from out of nowhere box set of three movies with monsters as its central theme. Not a bad idea since I do love me some monsters! Featured within are The Dark, about a writer who starts to look into a string of decapitations that he believes are caused by a supernatural force; The Being, which is about a freak driven psychotic and murderous by radiation; and Creatures From the Abyss, about dumb kids who find an abandoned yacht that soon becomes full of monsters. Night Junkies (2007)

I know what you’re thinking, the same thing I was: another fucking indie vampire movie, right? Not exactly, no; it’s a unique take on bloodsuckers, to a point, with some great standout performances and some truly nasty scenes of “feeding”, as it were. The story is about a stripper who is inadvertently turned into a different kind of creature of the night when she takes a mysterious man home with her and he can’t help but feed on her sweet, luscious plasma.
