There’s been a bit of debate concerning the setting of Shane Black’s upcoming entry into the Predator franchise. Specifically, does it take place in suburbia? During a recent interview Variety did with Fox CEO Stacey Snider, an air of confidence in the film was displayed; and the setting was confirmed!

We’ve got a Predator film coming out that is unexpected and utterly fresh,” said Snider. “I just imagined that it would take 500 hours to read the script — that it would be interior jungle, exterior more jungle, and then fighting happens; but Emma [Watts] went out and recruited Shane Black. From the first page, it didn’t read like a Predator film. It’s set in suburbia. There’s a little boy and his dad at the center of the action.

The Predator stars Thomas Jane, Edward James Olmos, Sterling K. Brown, Trevante Rhodes, Boyd Holbrook, Jacob Tremblay, Olivia Munn, Alfie Allen, Yvonne Strahovski, Augusto Aguilera, and Keegan-Michael Key.

Black is directing from a script by Fred Dekker. John Davis, Joel Silver, and Lawrence Gordon — who produced the original — are producing. The Predator comes out August 3, 2018.
