Cast Officially on Painkillers

We told you a while back that Taiwanese/American director Roxy Shih had been locked down as the director of Painkillers, and right now we have the full details including the cast and more!

Adam Huss (“Power”), Madeline Zima (“Californication”, “Twin Peaks”), and Grant Bowler (“Defiance”, “True Blood”) are set to star in Painkillers, the second feature from director Roxy Shih. Debra Wilson (“Mad TV”) and Naomi Grossman (“American Horror Story”) are also on board the pic, which starts shooting next week in Los Angeles.
Giles Daoust wrote the script, which has received several awards and nominations in American festivals and screenwriting competitions.

Luke Barnett and Vincent Masciale are producing under their Lone Suspect banner alongside Giles Daoust and Catherine Dumonceaux from Title Media. Mike Macari (The Ring franchise) and Alain Berliner (Golden Globe Winner for My Life in Pink, La Vie en Rose) are executive producing.

Roxy Shih is an internationally acclaimed Taiwanese-American director. Her feature length debut, The Tribe, won multiple awards on the festival circuit, including Best Director at Other Worlds Austin.
Title Media is a film production company founded in 2003 by Giles Daoust and Alain Berliner, active in Brussels, Paris and Los Angeles. It has (co-)produced over 30 films, including Starry Eyes (SXSW 2014) and the upcoming Radius (Diego Klattenhoff), Hostile (Xavier Gens) and The Man Who Killed Hitler and then the Bigfoot (Sam Elliott, John Sayles).

Lone Suspect also partnered with Title Media on their last film, the horror-comedy Fear, Inc., which stars Lucas Neff (Raising Hope), Caitlin Stasey (A.P.B.), and Abigail Breslin (Scream Queens). Fear, Inc. premiered at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival. Barnett and Masciale recently wrapped the pilot for Captain Karl’s Institute for the Abnormally Bizarre, starring Daniel Stern (Home Alone), YouTuber Lisa Schwartz, Kate Flannery (The Office), and Danny Woodburn (Seinfeld) for eOne.

Huss is represented by Stone Manners and Lisa DiSante-Frank. Zima by Affirmative Entertainment. Bowler by Gersh and Untitled. Wilson by Sovereign Talent and Aaron Kogan Management. Synopsis:
After a terrible car crash in which his son dies, brilliant surgeon John Clarke (Huss), tormented by guilt, becomes prey to an unbearable physical pain. While his marriage starts disintegrating, John soon finds out that the only thing that can ease his pain is the taste of human blood. When he encounters Herb Morris (Bowler), a man who claims he can help him get his life back, John embarks upon a nightmarish journey through which he will either have to come to terms with his pain… or become a monster.
