Overlord Adds Two: Sounds a Bit Like it Was Inspired by Wolfenstein

I love horror-infused FPS games. Sure, 3rd person survival horror is amazing in its own way but there’s something about mixing horror and action that is simply delightful. Case in point: just play 2016’s Doom and you’ll find yourself having an absolute blast! But if I don’t want something as fast-paced and hectic, I turn to Wolfenstein, which adds a lot more in terms of story and changes the gameplay style to include elements of stealth and planning, all while still allowing me to shoot the shit out of Nazis. It’s pretty damn great, I tells ya!

Reading about Paramount’s upcoming film Overlord, I can’t help but feel like it’s inspired by the aforementioned video game. After all, the premise is that paratroopers land in German territory during WWII and find out that the village they’re in has some supernatural issues going on. If that doesn’t make you expect B.J. Blazkowicz to burst onto the scene at any moment, I don’t know what will!

As for the film, Deadline has announced that Jovan Adepo (Fences) and Wyatt Russell (Everybody Wants Some!!) have signed on to appear in the film, which is being directed by Julius Avery and produced by J.J. Abrams and Lindsey Weber.

Synopsis:
On the eve of D-Day, American paratroopers are dropped behind enemy lines to carry out a mission crucial to the invasion’s success. But as they approach their target, they begin to realize there is more going on in this Nazi-occupied village than a simple military operation. They find themselves fighting against supernatural forces, part of a Nazi experiment.

With a description like that, count me in!
