DVD and Blu-ray Releases: January 17, 2017

It’s a good movie release week for those of us in the Northeast who would prefer to stay indoors where it’s warm and watch zombies ripping humanity apart, children possessed or a psycho with a drill on the end of his guitar slaying scantily clad women. As a matter of fact, if those are your things, this will be just your week.
Starting with the zombies, every Resident Evil movie is going to be getting a Blu-ray release this week. I might be wrong, but this could just be some great marketing as the newest movie in the series will be hitting theaters on January 27th. Also in the zombie category is the long-awaited US release of Train to Busan.
Next up: possessions. This week sees not only the Blu-ray release of Ouija: Origin Of Evil, but a 2-movie collection with the original Ouija will be on Blu-ray as well.
Lastly, barely dressed women and a rocker with a huge drill. If you haven’t guessed by now, I am referring to the Blu-ray double feature for Slumber Party Massacre II and Slumber Party Massacre III. Those are two of the classics dropping this week.
The other classics we have coming at you include 1966’s Revenge of the Blood Beast (aka The She Beast) on Blu-ray. Also on our classics list is 1977’s Love Letters of a Portuguese Nun, also on Blu-ray.

It pays well, but increasingly causes him to question his morals, especially after the “work” brings him face-to-face with this woman’s predicament, and the killer who’s set it all in motion.
Backstabber (2016)

Bubba the Redneck Werewolf (2014)

Bubba himself is brought to life by the ground-breaking makeup design of Michael Davy, resulting in a fun-loving werewolf with an unprecedented range of comedic facial expressions. The film is directed with its tongue firmly in-cheek by Brendan Jackson Rogers (Flashback); and Bubba’s rockin’ soundtrack is provided by rockabilly band The Blast-Offs and composer George Shaw (Tabletop, the Geekie Awards). Never before has a Werewolf this lovable been responsible for so much violence! You’ll want to drink a beer or twenty with Bubba over and over again!

Laundry Man (2017)

Synopsis:
Laundry Man is the story about a rather clumsy serial killer. It is partly based on the crimes committed by American serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer and those committed by the Belgian-Hungarian Pastor Andras Pandy, in combination with the dangers that occur on different chat sites on the internet.
Love Letters of a Portuguese Nun (1977)

Synopsis:
16-year-old Maria is forced into Serra D’Aires convent, secretly run by Satanists. Her confessor is in collusion with the Mother Superior. She writes a letter to God, and a Knight rescues her, only to fall into the hands of the Inquisition, put on the rack, and condemned to death like Joan of Arc. Susan Hemingway, William Berger, Herbert Fux and Ana Zanatti star in a movie so confronting that censorship bans prevented its release for two years. The other releases in the Jess Franco Collection can be purchased at Full Moon Direct. Collecting the entire series of Franco films will result in the building of an exclusive Jess Franco painting on the spines of the DVDs.
Mountain Devil (2017)

Resident Evil: Extinction (2007)

Milla Jovovich is back in the third chapter of the hugely successful Resident Evil franchise! Except for a few rusting landmarks, it looks pretty much like the rest of the desert – or the whole country, for that matter. The crowds are now flesh-eating zombies: the mass undead, the oozing, terrifying sludge of what remains. Here, the newly upgraded Alice, along with her crew (Oded Fehr, Mike Epps, Ali Larter, Ashanti) will make a final stand against evil – with one goal: to turn the undead dead again.
Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010)

Synopsis:

Revenge of the Blood Beast (1966)

Synopsis:
A tale of demonic reincarnation reminiscent of Mario Bava s Black Sunday, Revenge of the Blood Beast (Il lago di Satana, aka The She Beast) stars Barbara Steele as Veronica, a British tourist who is stranded in a remote village with her husband Philip (Ian Ogilvy) while honeymooning in Transylvania. They meet a descendent of legendary vampire-hunter Count von Helsing (John Karlsen), who reveals that the town is haunted by a satanic curse. A mysterious car accident plunges Veronica into a nearby lake, but when her body is removed, it resembles that of the legendary Witch of the Lake. Reawakened from her slumber, the blister-faced hag, armed with sickle and claws, rises from the makeshift morgue and unleashes her vengeance upon the descendants of those who executed her, centuries earlier. While the bumbling Soviet authorities stumble over themselves to solve the murders, Philip join forces with von Helsing to capture the witch and put an end to the dreadful curse. Director Michael Reeves (Witchfinder General) mixes gruesome thrills with dark comedy (courtesy of character actor Mel Welles as a devious hotel owner), to make Revenge of the Blood Beast an especially playful entry in the Euro Horror genre.
