Brad Anderson to Direct The Living and the Dead

Brad Anderson to Direct Graphic Novel The Living and the DeadBrad Anderson is one of those directors who burst on the horror scene with a super spooky early entry (2001’s Session 9) but just hasn’t quite lived up to his potential. That could possibly change now that he’s been signed to direct the film version of graphic novel The Living and the Dead for Solipsist Films.

Mania.com got the scoop, including the following comments from The Living and the Dead creator Robert Tinnell (who co-wrote the book with Todd Livingston), “Todd and I are so excited. I’m a big fan of Session 9. I think it’s a fantastic film. Obviously he’s a storyteller, and obviously he knows how to build tension, but what I also like is that when you watch his movies you really feel like you’re inhabiting the space.

Interestingly enough, The Living and the Dead was initially conceived as a screenplay. The story focuses on a monstrous character who engages in the 19th Century version of snuff theater, luring innocent people in a Grand Guignol of flesh and blood.

It’s not clear how far off The Living and the Dead might be from production as Anderson is currently at work on Vanishing on 7th Street so keep it here for more as it comes.
