New LineLooking to pencil in some dates on your horror event calendar? Good! Because New Line dropped some info on us that you’re not going to want to miss.

First up — Platinum Dunes’ reboot of the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise is expected to be in theatres April 16, 2010. The film will start shooting this April in Chicago with Samuel Bayer behind the camera. Still no word on who’ll be donning the glove and fedora, but I’m willing to bet we’re gonna be finding out sooner rather than later.

Also, set August 14, 2009, aside for another date with death as David R. Ellis returns to the Final Destination franchise with Final Destination: Death Trip 3D. Believe it or not I’m pretty stoked for this one. Ellis helmed Final Destination 2, which is my favorite of the series … if only because of its mean-spirited nastiness. Here’s hoping David can pull off the gratuitous violence again in 3D.

Keep it here for more as it comes.
