NewBev to Present Midnight Showing of The Howling on June 1stI envy my CA friends a lot, but never more than when a 35 mm screening of a personal favorite is shown. Which means I usually spend about one weekend a month cursing my poor choice in geographical locale. CA-based Dread readers – I implore you – go see this one in my stead!

It’s all going down at the New Beverly Cinema this Saturday night, June 1st, at 11:59 PM.

The Howling is one of the best horror films of the 1980s, balancing genuine scares with some of my favorite straight-faced satire of all time. Werewolves with emotional problems! Obnoxious smiley faces as a prelude to unspeakable horror! Every line of dialogue out of Dick Miller’s mouth! Oh yeah, and some Rob Bottin FX work that may or may not be some of the greatest ever put onto the silver screen.

Those of you in attendance will be able to win a copy of Scream Factory’s upcoming The Howling Blu-ray, well before street date! No matter what you’ve got going on this weekend, I’m pretty sure there’s nothing else happening in CA that’s this cool.

Movie fans are undoubtedly familiar with the New Beverly Cinema by now. The theater is located at 7165 West Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles, CA, one block west of La Brea. The screening of The Howling is hosted by Brian Collins. For more info visit the New Beverly Cinema website or check out Horror Movie a Day.

You can also purchase tickets right now by heading to Brown Paper Tickets.
