When The Nightingale screened in Sydney last Summer, many audience members found the graphic violence portrayed too much to tolerate. To recap:
At the Sydney premiere on Sunday at the Ritz cinema in Randwick, one woman walked out during the early stages, shouting: “I’m not watching this. [The main character has] already been raped twice.”

The Nightingale is the sophomore feature film from Jennifer Kent, the writer and director of The Babadook. Today brings word that the film will be available to own on digital tomorrow (Friday, October 25th) with a VOD release slated for November 1st.

Synopsis:
Set in Tasmania in 1825, The Nightingale follows a 21-year-old Irish female convict (Aisling Franciosi) who witnesses the brutal murder of her husband and baby by her soldier master and his cronies. Unable to find justice, she takes an Aboriginal male tracker with her through the hellish wilderness to seek revenge on the men.
