Ted Bundy Biopic EXTREMELY WICKED, SHOCKINGLY EVIL AND VILE Scores R-Rating for Sex & Violence

Zac Efron plays infamous serial killer Ted Bundy in the upcoming biopic Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, arriving on Netflix and in select theaters sometime in 2019. But those worried that the former High School Musical star’s participation meant producers would be pulling their punches with the subject matter can breathe a sigh of relief.

Today, we can confirm that Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile has locked down an R-rating for “disturbing/violent content, some sexuality, nudity, and language.” For fans of the more extreme end of the horror spectrum, this is music to our ears. Plus, the R-rating will allow for historical accuracy when it comes to the portrayal of Bundy’s crimes, which were indeed hideous.

We still don’t know exactly when Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile will be released, but we’ll keep you posted as details emerge. Stay tuned! In the meantime, give the trailer and synopsis for the film a spin below.

Synopsis:
A chronicle of the crimes of Ted Bundy, from the perspective of his longtime girlfriend, Elizabeth Kloepfer, who refused to believe the truth about him for years.

Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile is directed by Joe Berlinger from a screenplay penned by Michael Werwie; in addition to Efron, the film stars Lily Collins, Angela Sarafyan, and Metallica’s James Hetfield.
