Netflix Announces CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA Holiday Special Coming December

While fans of Netflix’s recent hit horror series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina wait patiently for the second season (greenlit, but no release date announced) we can at least look forward to a Holiday special coming to the streaming giant on Friday, December 14th. This is assuming, of course, that the show’s budget isn’t decimated by a lawsuit recently filed by The Satanic Temple!

Check out the synopsis (via THR) below.

“A Midwinter’s Tale” is set during the Church of Night’s celebration of the winter solstice. On the longest night of the year, families gather around the Yule fire to sing pagan carols and tell ghost stories. The holidays are also a time for guests and visitors — both welcome and unwelcome — and you never know who’ll drop down the chimney.

While “A Midwinter’s Tale” is being billed as something of a standalone, we can expect it to propel the plot from Season 1—at least to some extent. Maybe we’ll find out why Sabrina’s hair went from blond to platinum in the series’ finale. Time will tell!

Synopsis:
This adaptation of the “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” tale is a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror and the occult. In the reimagined origin story, Sabrina Spellman wrestles to reconcile her dual nature — half-witch, half-mortal — while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family — including aunts Hilda and Zelda — and the daylight world humans inhabit. Kiernan Shipka (“Mad Men”) leads the cast in the titular role of the show that is based on a comic series of the same name.
