This one is for you vegans out there… I think… or maybe said vegans should be running for the hills? In either event, read on for the official release details of Raw (review) from Focus World.

From the Press Release:
Focus World, owned and operated by Focus Features, has set a domestic theatrical release date for writer/director Julia Ducournau’s award-winning psychological horror thriller Raw.

Raw will open in select cities on Friday, March 10, 2017; following the movie’s theatrical run, the title will be on digital platforms months later in the summer. Earlier this month, the movie won the Sutherland Award for Best First Feature at the BFI London Film Festival. The prize follows other accolades for Raw from film festivals around the world, where it has proved to be a fan and industry favorite. Raw won the Best Director award at Fantastic Fest’s “Next Wave” competition; the Golden Octopus Award and the Audience Award at the Strasbourg European Fantastic Film Festival; and three prizes at the Sitges-Catalonian International Film Festival including the Citizen Kane Award for Best Up-and-Coming Director, the Méliès d’Argent Award for Best Feature-Length European Film, and the Carnet Jove Jury Award for Best Feature-Length Film.

The Petit Film/Rouge International/FraKas Productions film world-premiered at the 2016 Cannes International Film Festival in the International Critics’ Week section, where it won the FIPRESCI Prize. Produced by Petit Film’s Jean des Forêts, the French-language Raw stars Garance Marillier and is the debut feature from Ms. Ducournau.

Ms. Marillier portrays the teenaged Justine, who commences her studies at veterinary school to follow in her family members’ footsteps. Raised as a vegetarian, Justine is pressured at school to try meat for the first time. Once she does, she plumbs both the depths of her own soul and tests the limits of her darkest cravings.

Focus World curates exciting works from first-time and rising filmmakers for the digital age while also preserving the theatrical release component, allowing audiences to choose how they will watch a new movie. Its slate encompasses both narrative and nonfiction features and both English-language and foreign-language films.
