Filmmakers – Want a First Look Deal with Matador Pictures via Screamfest?

LA’s venerated Screamfest film festival has announced the Screamfest Launchpad Award, which will offer this year’s winning short-form filmmaker a “first look” deal with the UK’s Matador Pictures. Read on for details (but be quick; the submission cut-off is this Thursday, August 15).
Screamfest, which runs October 8-17, 2013, at Laemmle’s NoHo 7 (located at 5240 Lankershim Blvd., North Hollywood, CA), has added an additional prize award for the director of this year’s winning submission in their short film category. Sponsored by the UK’s Matador Pictures, the Launchpad Award will be bestowed upon the director who, in Matador’s opinion, shows the most promise for the next step up into feature films. The award consists of the following: an exclusive “first look” deal with Matador Pictures for the director’s next feature project pitch with the opportunity for the project to be commissioned for Matador’s development slate, the opportunity to work with Matador’s story and marketing teams to hone the development project into a viable feature film to be financed and produced by Matador, and the opportunity to be attached, as a director, to an existing project on Matador’s production slate.
Speaking exclusively with Dread Central, Screamfest creator and festival head Rachel Belofsky stated of the Launchpad Award, “We are very excited to offer this great opportunity to help further the careers of directors of short films this year.”
The Screamfest short film submission deadline has been extended until August 15th so don’t delay in submitting your short for consideration.
