One filmmaker we've had our eyes on for quite some time around these parts is Rue Morgue President Rodrigo Gudino, and he dropped us a line today with an update on the worldwide tour he and three of his short films went on this Halloween season.

Film festivals have for many years been a staple of most serious film fans’ experience. They are a great way to see a host of obscure and hard to find films and to see them gloriously displayed on the big screen. A lot of film festivals though tend to show the same old thing despite their venue and location differences.

The full lineup for the 6th Annual South African HorrorFest has been announced, and it's chock full of classic and rare movies, brand new indie productions, loads of short films, literature, music, Halloween dress-up, and killer giveaways.

Don't fill up your Halloween dance card just yet. Filmmaker Alex Bram is presenting some of the most promising new voices in horror at the second annual Carnival of Darkness Film Festival. Filled with haunting and disturbing short films from across the world, the fest takes place at LA Film School on Thursday, October 28th.

On October 2nd the third annual GoreZone International Film Festival got under way at Leicester Square’s Prince Charles Cinema; and for the first time ever, Dread was on the scene to check it out. Our report follows along with condensed reviews of six of the films shown over the weekend.

Now in its 10th year, the Shriekfest International Horror & Sci-Fi Film Festival took place this past weekend at Raleigh Studios in Hollywood. Celebrating the independent spirit of filmmaking, the festival screened 36 films and had 32 screenplay finalists and 12 original song finalists.

Horror fans who live in the Buffalo, New York, area will be happy to hear a new genre film fest is coming to town this October 21-24 called the Buffalo Screams Horror Film Festival, and the full lineup of short and feature films was announced earlier this week.

September 23rd, the first day of Fantastic Fest 2010, is already just a memory, which is why it's good that we've gotten ahold of a few photos from the opening night festivities. In addition, the Dread Central team on the scene, Scott & Tabby Johnson and Clint & Heather McCrocklin, have already posted two new reviews from the fest, both of which are extremely positive.

The always fantastic Fantastic Fest begins today, and to celebrate, they've released six incredible new posters for select films and events taking place over the next week. The posters were created by various artists for Mondo, the Alamo Drafthouse's collectible art boutique. In addition, we have details on the title card in the 2010 Fantastic Debates.

Just recently we were able to reveal the schedule and more for this year’s GoreZone Magazine International Film Festival in London’s Leicester Square.
