Fantastic Fest 09
For those of you who weren't in Austin, TX from September 23-30, you missed out. Fantastic Fest lived up to its name and presented some of the newest, most anticipated, and best films of the year. From the comfort and coolness of the Alamo Drafthouse (which serves AWESOME food during movies) to the palatial Paramount Theater, Austin showed that it knows how to treat fans of genre films.
We know that a lot of our readers roll their eyes whenever we cover Twilight and its sequels New Moon and Eclipse, and it's for all of you that we present G4's new Twilight spoof.
Fantastic Fest's Saturday night screening of the American premiere of George A. Romero's Survival of the Dead (review here) saw a packed house abuzz with anticipation about what the godfather of the zombie subgenre had come up with this time. As a bonus, we also received a little bit of information about what he might be coming up with next.
In anticipation of the film's world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival as part of the "Midnight Madness" portion of programming, the first clip from George A. Romero's Survival of the Dead has made its way online.
The dead are back in Romero's follow-up to Diary of the Dead, which is now FINALLY known as Survival of the Dead, and lucky fans in Austin, Texas will get to see it first here in the States as part of Fantastic Fest '09!
I can't help but get the feeling Uwe Boll needs a hug. He seems very angry and lately has been making movies that reflect that anger, that utter contempt for society, that deep down urge to destroy everyone and everything. He uncorked his rage in a serious manner with Seed and then comically so with Postal.
