Eyegore Awards
In our further coverage of the 2011 Eyegore Awards held this past Friday, September 23rd, at the Globe Theater at Universal Studios in Hollywood, California (see our report of the award ceremony itself
here, courtesy of our own Heather Wixson), this writer hit the event as well and brought back some ocular candy from the carpet as well as interviews with a few of the night’s principals from the same.
This past Friday night, September 23rd, the Halloween season officially kicked off in style with the 2011 Eyegore Awards held at the Globe Theater at Universal Studios in Hollywood as part of the opening night of Universal's Halloween Horror Nights. Hosted by genre veteran and previous Eyegore winner Corey Feldman (who was joined on stage by a wisecracking zombie scarecrow), many of horror's biggest names came out to celebrate our favorite time of year and pay homage to several of the genre's biggest contributors and newcomers alike.
It's that time of year again. No, not back to school time or the start of the NFL season. I can't argue that both of those events do bring a smile to my face, but I'm talking about something rooted much deeper in the darkness. I'm talking about the announcement of the Eyegore Award winners!
Dread Central (in this case writers Heather Wixson, Andrew Kasch and yours truly, Sean Decker) hit the red carpet this past Friday night for the Eyegore Awards and opening night of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood, CA, and brought back a bit of video (see that below, as well as video interviews from the carpet) from the rather boisterous festivities.
All we can say is that it is about damned time someone recognized the man himself, and it's with great pride that we report the following!
Dread Central (in this case scribes Heather Wixson and yours truly, Sean D.) hit the red carpet for the Chiller-Eyegore Awards and opening night of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios in Hollywood, CA, and brought back some ocular candy, including video interviews, from the rather boisterous festivities that you can see below.
I’m always amazed when I hear that somebody out there liked Rob Zombie’s Halloween films so imagine my surprise when the Chiller Eyegore Honorees found their way into my inbox today with none other than Rob himself at the top of the list. Once again, I’m reminded of the fact that someone out there liked Halloween II, and here’s the news to prove it.
Never mind his six, count 'em, six Oscars, come October 2nd Rick Baker will be getting his due from Universal and horror fans everywhere as he's set to take home the Chiller-Eyegore Award for his incomparable designs and makeup effects that have created indelible imagery in over forty-two horror films!
Tommy Jarvis himself, Corey Feldman, has been tapped to host the October 2nd Chiller Eyegore Awards, the opening night celebration of Universal Studios Hollywood’s “Halloween Horror Nights.”
This October's Halloween Horror Nights will be given a little more distinction when it's tied into the Chiller-Eyegore Awards.
If, like myself, you missed out on this year's Eyegore Awards, held at Universal Hollywood's Halloween Horror Nights, there's no need to worry. We've just uploaded a highlight reel from the ceremony honoring all that is great in our beloved genre!
Ah yes! Universal Studios! How well we get to know each other every year once October comes! Where else can you have the shit scared out of you by your favorite horror icons?
