Eve Mauro
It’s been a while since we last reported on the slasher flick Sorority Party Massacre, but fear not! We hit the Simi Valley, California, set in early December, 2011, to not only witness a mock hanging and a bevy of scantily-actresses sunbathing but also chat with co-director Chris Freeman and one of the film’s stars, scream queen Eve Mauro. Read on for the details and extensive ocular candy!
A new sliver of eye candy has come our way from Chris W. Freeman and Justin Jones' new slasher flick, Sorority Party Massacre, this one featuring star Yvette Yates stroking some wood. Aw yeah, mama.
Sorority Party Massacre co-director (with Justin Jones) and writer-producer Chris Freeman caught up with Dread to give us the skinny on the flick (see our previous coverage here) as well as to provide another bit of exclusive and sexy key art and a production still of cast member Kevin Sorbo.
It’s been a while since we chatted with Jake Kennedy, the man behind independent horror features Days of Darkness (2008) and Penance (2009), although regardless of the passage of time, it appears that Kennedy has not only tended dutifully to his historic DIY spirit but has also taken it to new and clever heights as witnessed by his unique approach to the financing and distribution
While chatting last night with friend and actress Eve Mauro (she of The Steam Experiment and Wicked Lake fame), this writer was tipped off to her upcoming feature Sorority Party Massacre, scheduled to shoot in and around Los Angeles and its surrounding environs this December and coming January.
Zach Passero, director of the 2008 Fever Dreams/Media Blasters feature Wicked Lake, has given Dread Central the skinny on the release plans for his director's cut of that feature. Hitting Blu-Ray on June 29, 2010, the disc will contain the original cut with the director's cut (titled Wicked, Wicked Lake) as a bonus that will feature an introduction by the filmmaker.
This scribe and my bowling team - Dread Central’s ‘The Horror Starlets’ comprised of Carlee (Wicked Lake, the upcoming Alluvial) Baker, Heather (The Poughkeepsie Tapes, Alluvial) Snell, Brooke (iMurders) Lewis, and Tracy (Dark Woods) Coogan - took part in Tuesday night’s fifth annual non-profit Bowling for Boobies Los Angeles breast cancer event, and we wish to thank those in the horror community who so generously donated to this wonderful cause (see the list below).
Tracy Coogan (Zombie Honeymoon, Dark Woods) has been invited by this scribe to join the 'Horror Starlets' who are "Bowling for Boobies" to raise money for women fighting Breast Cancer. To support the Busted Foundation, Ms. Coogan, along with Nom De Plum Films, Dread Central, and TCB Public Relations, will give away two exclusive tickets for this Thursday's Dark Woods screening in Los Angeles.
This scribe is asking the horror community during this month – our month of months – to unite for a good cause: supporting local Los Angeles women battling breast cancer by giving a small donation.
To your right you can see one of a few pics that dropped recently from The Steam Experiment, the serial killer film on its way from director Phillippe Martinez, which Genius Product recently nabbed for distribution.
Not a bad way to start off your hump day, is it?
