It's always nice to see anyone involved in horror take home an award. But when you see a local guy who's obviously got a great love of the genre receiving accolades, it's that much sweeter. And that was exactly the case this week when Tennessee's own Dr. Gangrene was nominated for three Regional Emmy Awards.
The first 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards are being handed out this afternoon at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, and one show near and dear to our hearts has come home with the gold!
As Dread Central's resident awards show junkie, I'm happy to report that while horror didn't make a super strong showing in this year's Emmy Awards nominations, it did make a respectable one. Read on for the full list of genre nominees, including a few that, while not pure horror, are definitely DC fan favorites.
On AMC's "The Walking Dead" Michael Rooker played an off-the-wall racist survivalist named Merle who single-handedly (literally) captured the hearts of the fans who adore the Robert Kirkman zombie epic.
