First Look: Stephen King’s CHAPELWAITE with SCHITT’S CREEK Actress Emily Hampshire

Stephen King’s short story Jerusalem’s Lot is headed to the small screen in the form of a 10-episode Epix show Chapelwaite with Adrien Brody. And recently, Schitt’s Creek actress Emily Hampshire posted a photo of her costume.

She writes on Instagram: “So a lot of people have been asking why I wasn’t at the Emmys with my Schitts Creek family. The real reason is: because it took me soooooo long to get out of this corset and jaunty hat that I missed my time travel flight there. The good news is I’m not in 2020 & my new show is based on a Stephen King story so… there was still a little Stevie with me here…

Check out the pic below.

Hampshire (12 Monkeys) will star as the female lead, Rebecca Morgan, an ambitious young woman who left Preacher’s Corners to attend Mount Holyoke College and has returned home with an advance to write a story for the new and prestigious Atlantic Magazine. Her writer’s block lifts when Boone (Brody) arrives in town with his children, and despite her mother’s protests, Rebecca applies to be the governess of the infamous Chapelwaite manor and the Boone family in order to write about them. In doing so, Rebecca will not only craft the next great gothic novel, she’ll unravel a mystery that has plagued her own family for years.

The series is set in the 1850s and follows Captain Charles Boone (Brody), who relocates his family of three children to his ancestral home in the small, seemingly sleepy town of Preacher’s Corners, Maine after his wife dies at sea. However, Charles will soon have to confront the secrets of his family’s sordid history and fight to end the darkness that has plagued the Boones for generations.

It will be penned by Flatliners and Salem’s Lot writer Peter Filardi with his brother Jason Filardi (17 Again, Bringing Down the House). The Filardi brothers will serve as showrunners and executive produce with Donald De Line. Production began in April in Halifax, Nova Scotia with a (possible) premiere date set for Fall 2020.
