It doesn't matter if you're a black swan or a white swan; we're sure you're going to want to bring home the dementedness that is Natalie Portman's Oscar-winning performance in Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan.
One partnership that's sure to go down in history as one of our genre's finest is that of Synapse Films and the beloved Coffin Joe. And fans living in Brooklyn, New York and Englewood, Ohio, have a chance to witness it first-hand ... for FREE!
From the Press Release:
The wait to get our hands on a Blu-ray of Embodiment of Evil (review here) has been nearly unbearable, and unfortunately it's about to last another couple of weeks longer.
Oh, Synapse Films. You are officially our hero of the week! Coffin Joe's latest tale of terror on Blu-ray? We love you. We just love you. Get excited, folks! If you're not familiar with the insanity of the Coffin Joe flicks, you're in for a real treat!
This is the first news story of 2010 that I'm excited about! The third film in José Mojica Marins' Coffin Joe trilogy, The Embodiment of Evil, is coming home next year!

Is there any doubt what huge José Mojica Marins fans we are here at Dread Central? The man is, quite simply, a badass! And it seems Trembles agrees with us; dig on his Embodiment of Evil review to see just how far out this latest installment in the Coffin Joe saga takes us.
A few weeks ago HorrorChick Heather dropped all the details on us about the upcoming Philadelphia Film Festival/CineFest 09's Danger After Dark series. If you live in the area and were on the fence about attending, a slight change in the schedule should help you make up your mind in favor of taking the plunge.
This morning one of the ghouls over at Anchor Bay UK dropped the goods news in our laps that they’ve acquired the latest Coffin Joe film, Embodiment of Evil, for DVD release in Great Britain!
Way back in August, when one could still go outside without extra layers, we told you guys about a cool little project that, while not directly related to Coffin Joe, was close enough for comfort, an animated short called “Undertaker”.

Issue #85
December 2008
As is my tradition, allow me to first point out how incredibly badass the art is for the latest issue of Rue Morgue. Another spectacular piece by Ghoulish Gary Pullin!
Heaven and Coffin Joe do not mix. But if there is a heaven for Coffin Joe fans, I just experienced it.
I was privileged to attend the premiere of Encarnação do Demônio (The Embodiment of Evil), August 5 in São Paulo, Brazil.
If all goes well, 2009 just might be the Year of Coffin Joe. The Brazilian actor/director’s return to filmmaking, The Embodiment of Evil, will hopefully be hitting U.S. shores in some capacity, which means the man himself will be making more public appearances. But would you believe we’ll also be seeing Jose Mojica Marins ... animated?
