We all thought we were only a few months away from the February release of the Joss Whedon scripted slasher flick, Cabin in the Woods. Unfortunately MGM has other plans. Looks like we're gonna be shopping for a new horror valentine this year.

MGM finally let the proverbial cat out of the bag tonight in terms of the casting of the Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard's latest film, The Cabin in the Woods, and I have to say things are shaping up quite nicely.

IF Magazine released an interesting and rather optimistic quote by accomplished writer Joss Whedon today regarding the just beginning film project Cabin in the Woods. Whedon co-wrote the film with Drew Goddard, who will be directing, and has a lot of confidence in what they are trying to do.

Finally, some casting is going down for Cabin in the Woods, the Drew Goddard/Joss Whedon-penned horror film that Goddard will be making his directorial debut on.

It’s not a huge update by any means, but anytime I get a chance to talk about Joss Whedon here on the site, especially in relation to the horror movie he co-wrote with Drew Goddard, Cabin in the Woods, I will take it. So you’ll just have to deal with it!

Not much of an update, but a sad one nonetheless; Box Office Mojo have learned that Drew Goddard’s Cabin in the Woods, which he co-scripted with Joss Whedon, has moved from its October 23rd, 2009 release date, which would have given horror fans something to choose from and leaves Saw VI likely the only game in town again, to February 5th, 2010.

A few more minor details have surfaced about Cabin in the Woods, the project we first mentioned yesterday that was penned by Joss Whedon and Cloverfield producer Drew Goddard.

Joss Whedon is working on so many thing right now, it’s hard to believe he’s actually got time to sit down and be interviewed. But interviewed he was, by MTV most recently, to whom he gave an across-the-board status update on many of his projects.
