RIP: JUDGE DREDD Actor Maurice Roëves Dies at 83

Sad news this morning as we just got word that Judge Dredd and The Last Of The Mohicans actor Maurice Roëves has died at the age of 83.

His agent writes: “It is with great sadness that we can confirm the passing of our wonderful client, Maurice Roëves. Maurice had a hugely successful career in both theatre and screen, which spanned several decades, starting in his home country of Scotland and moving to London and the United States. He was loved by his legions of fans for many of his performances. As well as being a truly dedicated and gifted actor, he was also a real gentleman and a delight to have as a client. We will miss him greatly and our thoughts and love go out to Vanessa and his family.”

Roëves played Warden Miller in Danny Cannon’s 1995 adaptation of Judge Dredd with Sylvester Stallone, Armand Assante, and Max von Sydow. And Col. Edmund Munro in writer-director Michael Mann’s French and Indian War epic The Last of the Mohicans with Daniel Day-Lewis Madeleine Stowe, Jodhi May, Russell Means, Wes Studi.

He also played Dafydd in John Fawcett’s little-seen 2005 British-German horror film The Dark with Sean Bean and Maria Bello.
