Despite the fact that, as a certain motel owner put it, “We all go a little mad sometimes,” most of us will never truly know what it’s like to experience full-on insanity. At least we have the upcoming horror game Lithium: Inmate 39, which places you in the shoes of a deranged mental patient, to give us a vague idea of what madness must taste like.
And it includes decapitating and disemboweling your psychiatric doctors for good measure!
Sony will be publishing Lithium: Inmate 39 for the PS4 on September 20.

Lithium: Inmate 39 is a platform and 3D puzzle game for the horror genre. It tells the story of a psychiatric patient who must find the way back to his origins, discovering his past and getting explanations to understanding what is going on in his mind.
As the game story develops, players need to overcome hundreds of perils, traps, and puzzles throughout the 7 different chapters of the game. Traumatic past memories from Inmate 39 will take the form of different and uneasing enemies.
Each chapter is inspired by and set on Inmate 39’s vision of his world and the paths that will take him to knowing his truth. Different cutscenes will lead players to draw their own conclusions, and understanding will become clear during later stages.
