Diary of the Dead
We already knew the Season Two premiere of "The Walking Dead" is kicking off AMC's 2011 Fearfest celebration, and we now have a few more details to share, including the fact that one of Dread Central's favorite directors, George A. Romero, is hosting the event!
Zombies, zombies, zombies. We’ve been in the midst of a filmic zombie invasion for quite some time now, and with "The Walking Dead" tickling fans’ fancies across the nation, it doesn’t look like the undead will be trying to find more room in Hell any time soon.
As such, it seemed like a good time to catch up with (drumroll) Mr. GEORGE! A.! ROMERO! (APPLAUSE!)

While attending the press junket today for the legendary George A. Romero’s latest movie, Survival of the Dead, Dread Central had the opportunity to speak with the Godfather of the modern zombie film about what the future holds for the writer/director now that Survival is set to be unleashed in theaters on May 28th.

George A. Romero is still going strong and that means there's some Dead related carnage to be had! With the upcoming DVD releases of Diary of the Dead and the Night of the Living Dead 40th Anniversary Edition just around the corner we figured we'd celebrate by giving them away for free! So ...
I am not sure how many readers we have from South America, but RIOFAN (Rio Fantastic Film Festival) is something worth talking about regardless because George A. Romero's Diary of the Dead (review) will be kicking off the film festival in Brazil on April 30th!
If you may remember, months back George A. Romero held a contest to see which aspiring filmmakers could scare the master of the walking dead. Five short films were handpicked by Mr. Romero and have the honor of appearing on the Diary of the Dead DVD on May 20th.
Yesterday we got the word on Diary and Night of the Living Dead DVD dates. This morning we pointed you to the first look at the art. Now Dread Central can exclusively tell you what will be on both discs!
Following up on the news we shared with you yesterday, those undead freaks over at Zombie Friends got the first look at both the Diary of the Dead and Night of the Living Dead: 40th Anniversary Edition this morning.
No, it’s not a joke; the NotLD cover really is that dull.
UPDATE: Ah! I was off. The two-disc set isn't going to use some sort of ocular play on words to help push the DVD. Fangoria just put up the artwork for the upcoming release (seen to the right) and the new art for The Eye 3.
So this past Friday George A. Romero’s Diary of the Dead (review) finally made its way to theaters, and to say it had a polarizing effect on the Dread staff is likely one of the biggest understatements of the year.
