Demian Bichir Teases Why He’s So Excited About Showtime’s LET THE RIGHT ONE IN Series

A series based on Let the Right One In in the works at Showtime with Demián Bichir (The Nun, Godzilla vs Kong). And today Bichir talked a bit about the project.
He tells Collider: “I love the Swedish film. When I saw that I thought it was a beautiful piece of work. This is not only a vampire story, it’s a deeper type of story. It talks about minorities, it talks about people who are rejected because they are different. It talks about many different things. I’m really, really excited about going back to Showtime after ‘Weeds’ ten years ago.“

The series stars Bichir as a father whose life changes forever when his young daughter, Eleanor becomes a vampire. Locked in at age 12, perhaps forever, Eleanor lives a closed-in life, able to go out only at night. Papa Bichir does his best to provide her with the minimal amount of human blood she needs to stay alive.
Andrew Hinderaker (Penny Dreadful) is the showrunner. Seith Mann (The Walking Dead, Dexter, Harper’s Island, The Wire) will executive produce and direct the pilot.
Let the Right One In followed a sensitive, bullied 12-year-old boy living with his mother in suburban Sweden. One night, he meets his new neighbor, the mysterious and moody little girl, and they strike up a friendship. Initially reserved with each other, they slowly form a close bond, but it soon becomes apparent that she’s no ordinary young girl. Eventually, she shares her dark, macabre secret with him, revealing her connection to a string of bloody local murders.
Tomas Alfredson directed the original Sweedish film based on John Ajvide Lindqvist’s 2004 novel. Kåre Hedebrant starred along with Lina Leandersson, and Per Ragnar.
An American remake Let Me In hit back in 2010. Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, War for the Planet of the Apes) directed. Chloë Grace Moretz (Carrie, Kick-Ass) starred along with Kodi Smit-McPhee (The Road) and Richard Jenkins (The Shape of Water).
The film sports an 88% over on Rotten Tomatoes. The Critics Consensus reads: Similar to the original in all the right ways — but with enough changes to stand on its own — Let Me In is the rare Hollywood remake that doesn’t add insult to inspiration.
