David F. Sandberg And Gary Dauberman Adapting ‘Until Dawn’ For The Big Screen

Fans of the horror video game Until Dawn can expect to see this legendary story on the big screen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, David F. Sandberg and Gary Dauberman are attached to the adaptation of the wildly popular Supermassive Games title.
Filmmaker David F. Sandberg (Lights Out, Annabelle: Creation) will direct this chilling tale. Gary Dauberman (It (2017), Annabelle Franchise) is doing a pass on a screenplay from Blair Butler (The Invitation (2022), Polaroid).
For the uninitiated, Until Dawn is a 2015 interactive horror video game developed by Supermassive Games. It gives players control of eight characters trapped in a mountain retreat who soon discover they are not alone. The game uses a butterfly effect system, resulting in multiple endings triggered by choices made during gameplay.
Until Dawn was directed by Will Byles. It was written by Larry Fessenden and Graham Reznick. The game uses the voices and likenesses of Hayden Panettiere, Nichole Sakura, Jordan Fisher, Peter Stormare, and Rami Malek.
Many fans are hoping Hayden Panettiere will somehow be attached to the film. I also wonder if Larry Fessenden (Jakob’s Wife, Brooklyn 45) will appear. He not only co-wrote the game but also had a small role.
I found Until Dawn when I was discovering Supermassive Games’ back catalog last year. I love it because sometimes, as a horror fan, you do not know if you want to watch a scary movie or be in a horror movie. Until Dawn lets you do both, and I’m excited to see what this looks like on screen.
