Dan Abnett is one of the most prominent names in the realm of science-fiction literature. His acclaimed prose fiction includes Warhammer 40,000 and Doctor Who novels, and his comics include Star Trek, Batman, and Judge Dredd, with his Guardians of the Galaxy run being a major influence on the film.

We learned from Comic Book Resources that his next comic series, Predator: Life and Death, should be awesome. It will feature the Predators facing off against the Colonial Marines, so it sounds like it will be in the vein of James Cameron’s Aliens. Abbnett is well acquainted with the AvP universe, as he wrote the plot for last year’s Alien: Isolation game, and the best part is that publisher Dark Horse will be releasing many more upcoming Alien and Predator comics in the near future as part of its plan to expand the universe.

Issue #1 of Predator: Life and Death goes on sale March 2 next year, and we’ll keep you updated on the new series as additional issues are announced.

Synopsis:
Colonial Marines on the planet Tartarus battle extraterrestrial hunters over the possession of a mysterious horseshoe-shaped spaceship of unknown origin. The Weyland-Yutani rep wants the ship, and the Marine Captain wants to protect her crew. But neither objective is likely when a band of Predators attacks!

Predator: Life and Death begins chapter one in a new story cycle involving Predators, Aliens, and the mysterious Engineers from Prometheus.
