Crytek Unleashes Announce Trailer for Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded AgeThe foreboding seal rests on the door of the tomb, a tarantula crawling across its gritty surface. A coffin lids breaks open as the camera trucks endlessly in retreat; only to have its frame intruded on by an unholy battalion of undead marauders.

This was our glorious introduction to Crytek USA’s new co-op horror game, Hunt: The Horrors of the Gilded Age, in today’s announce trailer.

Developers describe the game as “a third-person action game where up to four players band together to fend off an onslaught of bloodthirsty creatures and track down breathtaking bosses.”

The game’s horror will be derived from ancient folklore tails made true, all pointing “to the terrifying truth about evil lurking just beyond the fringes of day-to-day life.”

Based on the architecture found in the background of the trailer, the clear voodoo markings on one of the monsters, and the Southern drawl of the trailer’s narrator, it is safe to say that Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age will take place in the bayou of the Southern United States.

Following in the footsteps of the recent horror title Daylight, Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age is procedurally generated, meaning level layouts and encounters are generated randomly. A multiplayer title such as this already has a high replay value, but this adds a new layer to its replayabilty, ensuring no two gaming experiences will be alike.

Continuing the trend with action shooters, Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age encourages a strategic approach over the all hell breaks loose in a hail of gunfire style. Crytek stresses that counting bullets and close collaboration are key to surviving in this upcoming horror game.

If you’re already salivating at the thought of this new title, no solid release date has been set, but it has been announced that the game will be available for both PC and consoles. In the meantime, PC users will be able to sign up for a beta test later this year at the official Hunt website.

Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age will be also be presented at this year’s E3. You can find it at the Crytek booth #4500 in the Los Angeles Convention Center.
