This past Memorial Day, members of The Night Crew podcast were invited to act as panelists and moderators for the annual horror media convention known as Crypticon Seattle.
The Pacific Northwest was once again invaded by Crypticon, and if you missed it, you missed a devil of a good time. Held the weekend of June 18th-20th, the big change this year for this growing event was the switch of venue from downtown Seattle to the Holiday Inn in Everett, WA. A transition that caused more than a few to scratch their heads.
The Pacific Northwest's only horror convention, Crypticon, returns to the Seattle area June 18th, 19th, and 20th, and if the guest list is any indication, this year looks to be an even bigger event than last. Held just outside of Seattle in Everett, Washington, this con has been growing in size every year and has now become a major horror event attended by such genre faves as Bill Moseley, Sid Haig, Don Coscarelli, Adrienne Barbeau, Lloyd Kaufman, and Ken Foree.
Sean "The Butcher" Smithson here. Sometime scribe for these here pages at Dread Central, sometime horror host, sometime jungle explorer, sometime exorcist, even sometime astronaut. But this time I'm here reporting on what it's like to help organize events and program films for a horror convention. Or at least, what it was like for me at this particular con, CryptiCon Seattle 2009.
No, it’s not Microsoft’s follow-up to Windows Vista – it’s the 2009 Crypticon being held at the Seattle Center June 5th through June 7th!
Memorial Day weekend, May 23-25, will be bloody good as Crypticon swings into town courtesy of Random Acts Seattle at the Doubletree Inn & Conference Center in Seattle, WA. For three days horror fans and celebrities will have a chance to mix it up here in the Emerald City.
