DVD Releases: Sept 8, 2009: It's the Nature of the Beast to Keep Live Animals on Harper's Island

Aside from the better than it should have been "Harper's Island" (review), the pick of this week's DVD crop seems to be a couple of Blu-ray re-releases: Creepshow and Freddy vs. Jason.

Warner Bros. released the official Blu-ray art for the George A. Romero classic Creepshow today, and well ... it's exactly what you think it is, and we're thankful for that. I hate when studios tinker with perfectly good artwork. We're looking at you, Paramount, and your Friday the 13th reissues!

Lots of Horror Going Blu on September 8th!

Every year there's at least one day on which a bunch of horror classics all come out of the woodwork. For Blu-ray owners that day is September 8th, 2009, as Warner Bros unleashes Snakes on a Plane, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (remake), Freddy Vs. Jason and even the classic King/Romero collaboration Creepshow into the high definition arena!

UPDATE:Yesterday I noticed that there was already conflicting information out there about the new Creepshow series, but it was kind of hard to care after learning Taurus Entertainment was involved. So, we just ran with the press release and let it be.

Creepshow Recreated for Black Dahlia Murder

During the recent Weekend of Horrors I met up with effects man Brian Spears (I Sell the Dead, Plague Town), who gave me a heads up that he had done some work for The Black Dahlia Murder on a video for their song “Everything Went Black”. Cool, right, but why the hell should you care?
